Getting Back to Chiropactic Treatment
If you’re one of the millions of Americans who have set aside their own health protocols in order to make a big sacrifice for the greater good during the COVID-19 pandemic, as we enter the third month of governmental restrictions nationwide, it’s a good idea to start thinking about getting back to our own wellness protocols, including chiropractic treatment.
If you’ve been “doing without” when it comes to your chiropractic treatment, you may have noticed back pain, head and neck pain, lack of restful sleep, and a host of additional symptoms that come along with spinal misalignment.
Patients with arthritis who seek chiropractic treatment as a companion to their normal health protocol might also consider scheduling an appointment for a chiropractic adjustment to quell their pain and discomfort and get on the right track with their pain management plan.
We keep our offices clean, safe, and follow all of the health guidelines set out for our profession. Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center would like to remind patients who are sick or susceptible to being impacted by COVID-19 to stay home while this thing still gets under control.
We’re here to provide our treatments in a safe environment, helping our patients take their health back amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Stay safe and stay healthy out there!
Getting Restful Sleep with Noisy Neighbors
As many of us are forced to hunker down and stay at home, even while shelter in place restrictions have become slightly more relaxed, the undeniable truth is that we’re all forced to spend more time at home. For those of us who share walls with neighbors, this might mean having to deal with more excessive amounts of noise.
Many people simply aren’t aware of the noise pollution they generate, and it’s a sensitive subject — because often people can become defensive or even belligerent when we hold them accountable for being noisy and (dare we say it) even a little bit inconsiderate.
It’s still up to us to get the right amount of sleep at night, even if our neighbors make it more challenging at times. Below, Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center goes over a few ways to block out the noise and get your proper Zs.
First, invest in a noisemaker. There are many hi-tech brands on the market that will help you create a sound bath in your bedroom that will block out invasive noise from surrounding houses or apartments.
Closing all of your windows is also a good idea to block out noise, although you’ll be sacrificing fresh airflow that many prefer in the night time.
Exercising each day and making sure that you limit your caffeine intake (and cut caffeine altogether after 3 pm) will also ensure that your body and brain are both ready for restful sleep when the time comes.
If the noise persists, try to politely communicate with your neighbors and let them know that you’ve been inconvenienced. You also have the option of getting your landlord or property management company involved in the matter. If invasive noise persists, you do have legal rights that you can pursue — if you choose to do so.
Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center provides chiropractic treatments that have been shown to help patients get more restful sleep on a consistent basis. Contact us today to learn more about who we are and what we do.
How to Limit Isolation Damage
As we go into our second month of self-quarantine, Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center would like to remind our patients and readers that it’s still important to check in with yourself on a daily basis to ensure that you’re getting the sustenance you need to stay healthy and well.
The medical community has expressed for a long time the effects isolation has on human beings. Staying indoors and away from the outside world is also damaging to your health and your immune system. In the end, even though we are making huge sacrifices while looking out for those more susceptible to COVID-19, we have a lot more to give when we ourselves are feeling at our best. We can still do a lot to obtain human contact and get back to nature during this time.
First, if you have people you’ve been having contact with (like, say, household members or certain low-risk family members), maintain your contact. We all need a hug. Our immune systems also need to change those good biomes that help us log and defend against infection and viruses.
Second, get outside. And whether you want to wear a mask or not, that’s up to you. One thing we can say is that it’s probably not a good idea to be breathing in your own exhaust for long periods of time. You breathe certain things out for a reason, right? If you maintain 6 feet of distance outside, there’s is no law or regulation saying that you can’t. The only time you really need to be staunch about wearing a mask outside and away from high-risk indoor areas (like the grocery store and convenience store, for instance) is if you’re susceptible to the virus, in which cases you should be rigidly quarantining anyway.
Make sure that you check-in with your communities, whether it’s a yoga or martial arts group, or whatever group of people who normally hold you accountable for showing up. Show up to your obligations virtually, you’ll still feel some amount of connection that way.

3 Easy Immune System Hacks
In order to boost your immune system, there are a number of things you can do at home during this time of quarantine to set yourself up for a healthy run of things. Below, Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center goes over a few ways to give your immune system an added boost.
1.) Eat Fruits and Veggies
Eating clean whole foods, especially vegetables and fruits, will help you body function at optimum capacity, while also reducing inflammation, which will make your body susceptible to infection. Eat kale, spinach, avocado, berries, ginger root, turmeric, and other fruits and veggies that pack a punch. Throw in some red bell pepper for a supreme vitamin C boost.
2.) Limit Alcohol Consumption
It may be tempting to tie one on every other night during this time of sheltering in place, however, excessive alcohol consumption will actually lower your immune system and viral fighting defenses.
3.) Get Restful Sleep
Sleep at least 7-9 hours each night to ensure your body charges up for the day ahead. Consecutive nights of less than stellar sleep will alter your body’s ability to ward off infection.

Taking Your Quarantine Workouts Outdoors
If you’re getting a little stir-crazy during all of this quarantine craziness, you’re not alone. Below, Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center goes over a few ways to get outside while still respecting COVID-19 restrictions.
First, it’s still important to get a few steps in each day, whether that means going on a morning and evening walk, or getting a run in during times of low traffic. Low traffic times might be earlier in the mornings, like at 5 or 6 am, rather than peak times like 9 and 10 am.
If you have a driveway, try to use that for your workouts. Use your back or front yard, if you have one.
Try to limit your time while you’re working out outdoors. Instead of taking two hours to get your fitness in, limit your workout to 45 minutes, that way others can enjoy the outdoors risk-free just as you have.

How Much Schooling Does a Chiropractor Have?
One question on many people’s minds is how long a chiropractor goes to school for and how long they are trained. The truth is, just like with any other health profession, becoming a chiropractor comes an extensive amount of schooling attached.
Below, Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center goes over a little more in-depth on the training a chiropractor receives in order to provide quality treatments to their patients. First off, most chiropractors have 4 years of pre-med undergraduate courses to complete, then work through 4-5 post-graduate academic years.
The truth is chiropractors have equal or even a greater amount of training than traditional medical professionals. This level of training also allows for chiropractors to be considered Primary Care Physicians.

Optimizing Your Diet
As most Americans and many people across the world self-quarantine during this COVID-19 pandemic, it’s a good opportunity to dial in our diets so that we can maximize our health, which will, in turn, maximize your immune system and ensure we’re in the best position to avoid getting sick with this thing.
Below, Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center goes over a few ways to optimize your diet.
First, eat plenty of vegetables — shoot for 1-2 servings per meal. Incorporate veggies into your breakfast, too, which many of us fail to do. Have a nice kale salad or incorporate some avocado, red bell pepper, onions, and other veggies into your breakfast fixings.
Eat 4-5 smaller meals per day instead of 2-3 large meals. It’s important to ensure that your digestive system doesn’t get bogged down with huge portions to digest at once.
Stay hydrated throughout the day. You should be getting about half your body weight in ounces of water per day, which will help your body stay firing on all cylinders. Dehydration can lead to lethargy, headaches, body aches, and more.

3 Ways to Boost Your Productivity
As life continues to slow down amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important to try to get yourself into some kind of routine as soon as possible. It’s still important to rise early and get your center for the day before you go about taking care of what’s on the agenda.
Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center goes over a few ways to boost your productivity during your time at home.
Cut Out Distractions
Obviously, since you’re at home, you’re going to have more than a few distractions. There are a few ways you can address this. First, allow yourself to engage in the distraction for 20 minutes, then get back to work. Otherwise, you can download applications that will help you stay off your favorite distraction sites, which will help you cut down on wasted time.
Silence Your Phone
Now that everyone’s at home, you might find your phone ringing more often than normal. When it’s time to get things done, it’s a good idea to put your phone on airplane mode until you get done what you need to do.
Explore Chiropractic Treatment
Once the dust on the issue settles, chiropractic treatment is a great way to boost your immune system and recalibrate the mind/body connection, which will help you experience more productivity on a daily basis. Quarantine Dos and Don’ts
As we settle into our second moving into the third week of quarantine, we’re starting to get a better idea of what we’re in for. Many of our largest cities in the country are extending their lockdown regulations until at least 4/19/2020, which means we all have to hunker down and continue to do our part.
What it also means is that, due to stricter regulations being set forth, this means that many people aren’t observing proper quarantine etiquette, which thwarts the efforts of everyone else. Below, Family Chiropractic and Natural Healing Center goes over how to practice quarantine the right way.
Do: Maintain Six Feet of Distance at All Times
When you’re out on essential errands, it’s important to stay six feet away from other human beings AT ALL TIMES. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
Don’t: Venture Out… Unless It’s for Essential Functions
We know staying indoors for extended periods of time can be irritating, but that’s the point of what we’re doing: we’re sacrificing our own self-interests for the greater good. If you find yourself venturing outside every 20 minutes, even if it’s only for a few moments, you’re missing the point and failing to do your part. Stay indoors, please. Resist the urge to go outside.
Do: Maintain Cleanliness Throughout the Day
Wash your hands when you come into contact with common surfaces and make sure to keep your home clean and sanitized, this way you can avoid germs coming into your home as well as you spreading them outward.
Don’t: Have People Over
It’s important to isolate and quarantine during this time, which does not mean having friends over. Please, for the sake of everyone, shelter in place and avoid having ANY sort of gatherings until this time of quarantine is up.
