A Better Back Starts with a Better Diet

Why do we make diet so complicated?

There should be no back and forth- the western diet of meats-and-sweets is a broken lie that was peddled by a commodity-crazed food industry and its time is coming to an end. It’s time we demand that our food and health industries place importance on real, nutritious foods rather than processed, imitation flavors that are devoid of nutrients.

Nutrition should be easy

Eating right should not be a difficult task. But many of us are brought up on diets that sell us short when it comes to the basic nutrients we need to fight off health problems like back pain. In fact, much of the western diet actually perpetuates back pain because it is full of inflammatory ingredients like saturated fats. We need to flip the script and start focusing on foods that actually fight inflammation! And despite what conventional wisdom would have you believe, those ingredients are plentiful and they don’t have to be expensive!

An anti-inflammatory diet

At our office in Milpitas, we help our patients restructure their diets to account for back pain. While we work with each individual to create an effective plan, here are some foods to research if you are interested in the impact of an anti-inflammatory diet on back pain:

  • Seeds, specifically flax and chia
  • Avocados
  • Nuts
  • Turmeric
  • Cold-water fish
  • Carrots
  • Beets
  • Sweet potatoes

Do you see a trend here? Color and diversity in your diet is key. Natural is essential. We believe that diet is a central tool to reducing back pain. If you are interested in harnessing its power, get in touch to schedule an appointment today!
